BIOL 213 - Organismal and Ecological Biology (Springs 2012-2021)
This course introduces students majoring in biology and zoology to fundamental concepts in animal and plant diversity, evolution, form and function, and ecology.

ZOOL 433 – Comparative animal physiology (Falls 2014-2021)
This comparative course examines the physiological systems and function of animals ranging from invertebrates to vertebrates. A lab component is incorporated that includes experiments on development, metabolism, thermoregulation, environmental stressors, and immune function.

ZOOL 573 – Physiological Ecology of Development and Phenotypic Plasticity (Spring 2018-2020)
This advanced 3-credit hour graduate level course explores topics in physiological ecology. For spring 2018 we will explore the developmental, and physiological mechanisms underlying phenotypic flexibility across the lives of animals.

ZOOL 408 – Herpetology (Falls 2012-2021)
This comparative lab based course examines the evolution, ecology, and physiology of amphibians and reptiles. We explore the diversity of herps globally, with a focus on those within the region of Illinois.

STEM Outreach
I work with local middle schools (Unity Point Elementary/Middle School, and Egyptian High School) to engage life science students in inquiry-based citizen science. The focus of these collaborations is to aid students gain greater scientific and media literacy, and to develop a deeper understanding of how science works, especially in relationship to global change, pollution, disease, and human/animal ecology.
